EQUIP FAMILIES TO LEAVE A GRACE-BASED LEGACY

Exploring important questions in writing is deeply rewarding, but there’s nothing like meeting face-to-face and having conversations about God’s Word together. Besides speaking at dozens of churches, national conferences, and events, I’ve done several seminars and retreats for men and fathers, parents, grandparents and families. Below are four favorites, the first of which also incorporates my story of How I Became a Christian Despite the Church:

The Dangers of Growing Up in a Christian Home (and How to Avoid Them!)

Most parents and grandparents want to give their children their best and are sobered by the fact that the home is the primary conduit for passing on the faith. Both moms and dads are essential in that they partner with God in turning the hearts of the children toward His ancient paths. Fathers especially have a unique and irreplaceable role, particularly when it comes to introducing their children to the possibility of friendship with God. This seminar will:

  • give parents and all those who care about spiritually healthy kids a clearer focus.
  • strengthen your convictions and ignite your courage as you learn about father absence and the powerful spiritual influence of both moms and dads.
  • explore the dangers of growing up in a Christian home and how to avoid them.
  • have wide application beyond parents and grandparents to all those who care about God’s church.

Fathering Well: The Neglected Missional Priority

This seminar, also the subject of my doctoral project, focuses on the unique and irreplaceable role of fathers specifically, examining research that shows how they have the potential, more than any other person on the planet, to display or distort the love of the Father. Learn how to be a hero-dad to your kids and how your church can better respect, support, and champion the sovereign sphere of the family.

Finding Strength and Joy in Your Marriage

This seminar will give insight on:

  • three simple ways to improve your marriage
  • staying in love for a lifetime
  • enjoying the fruit of the two greatest eternal wishes
  • preparing for and navigating the empty nest

How to Pass on Your Faith to the Next Generation

400 years before Jesus was born, the prophet Malachi spoke of a central expression of love that would characterize the ministry of John the Baptist and— in a greater way—Jesus: battling for the heart and rescuing the beauty of relationships (Mal 4:6).

Beginning from this relational foundation, this seminar will explore:

  • practical strategies for applying biblical principles, originally given in a largely agrarian society to our digital age.
  • various “Christian” responses to culture, prioritizing 4 C’s of cultural engagement from 1 Peter 3.
  • insights from Acts 16 on how to share God’s welcoming heart with friends, family, and community.
  • ways to best motivate and mentor the next generation.
